DESCRIPTION:The UNA-UK Policy Conference will be held on 1st April. 10:00 – 16:30 at Resource for London\, 356 Holloway Road\, London N7 6PA\, as well as online. Therefore UNA LASER will not be holding a Spring Council and Policy Conference;  we encourage all our members to support this national event to consider key international issues. It will include an opportunity to meet the staff and Chair of UNA-UK. The cost is £5. Please register here. \nNote: At the time of writing\, a rail strike is proposed for 1st April. In order to enable as many people as possible to attend in person\, some UNA London members are offering accommodation around the conference. Please let me know if you live within tube or bus reach of Resource for London – or plan to drive to the event – and would be able to host one or more UNA members from 31st March – 2nd April.

This year the priority will be on encouraging attendance rather than arrest\, relationships rather than roadblocks.\n\n ​“An event is being planned for Friday 21st April to which XR invites all people\, all groups\, all organisations to create a critical mass impossible to ignore. The target is for 100\,000 people from all walks of life to gather peacefully at the nation’s seat of power in Westminster and encircle the Houses of Parliament. Planning is in its early stages but although the idea seems to be to maintain a presence at Westminster for several days\, the main focus will be on a huge gathering on the 21st.\n\n​“I hope UNA members will feel able to support this action\, with its opportunity of demanding that our government take seriously its commitments to the UNFCCC\, and indeed take active steps to better support and strengthen the UN and promote its ideals\, with the goal of achieving greater international co-operation in solving the immense problems faced by humanity.”\n\n“Humanity has a choice: cooperate or perish.
