Global Elites and American Power Today

On 6th June, 10:30, UNA Harpenden is hosting a hybrid public lecture on Global Elites and American Power Today by Professor Inderjet Parmar (City University of London). He will examine how American power is sustained and projected through military force, state institutions, and also through dense networks of global elites (corporate, philanthropic, academic, and policy-oriented). He will outline a new theoretical approach to world politics – ‘Critical Multiplexity’ – to help explain ongoing global power shifts, as well as enduring oligarchical power in world politics. The lecture will reflect on what this means for global governance and the future of the United Nations: much turbulence ahead! The event will be online and also at Salvation Army, Harpenden AL5 2TG.
